Congratulations to the U15s, who beat Freeland convincingly last night to win their group in the U15s Oxfordshire league. This means we qualify for the knock-out stages, starting next Monday, 21 June (details to be confirmed).
Another fearsome opening spell from the two Max's put Freeland into the precarious position of 12-6, with Max Robson taking four wickets and some good catches by Frazer, Ben Barnett, Ben Harden and Kieran. To their great credit, the Freeland numbers 7 and 8 then dug in and hit some strong shots to take the score to a more respectable 79-6 off 20 overs.
A solid opening partnership between Ben Hambidge and Ben Harden made steady, accelerating progress towards this total, before Ben Harden fell to a nice catch at square leg, Kieran retired hurt and two wickets fell off consecutive balls with the scores tied! Enter 'the finisher' George Hambidge, who then joined his brother at the crease to grab the single needed for the win.
A big thank you to everyone who helped with the scoring, refreshments and clearing up, and who came along to support - another cold night on the terraces!
The knock-out game(s) will have some impact on our planned friendlies and the U17s fixtures, but as things stand, we're due to play:
- A friendly at Blewbury this Sunday morning, 20/6
- League quarter final - venue and opposition to be confirmed, 6pm Monday 21/6.
So, please confirm your son's availability to Michael for both these games by Thursday this week.
If we're lucky enough to progress further, the remaining County rounds are:
- Semi-final - 6pm, Monday 28 June
- Final - 6pm, Friday 2 July
Thanks and well done again everyone.
